UNITED SIGN OBADA

18 July 2009

In what has been a busy week on the player front at Maritzburg United FC, CEO Afzal Khan has announced the signing of former Thanda Royal Zulu winger, Nigerian, Felix Obada on a two year contract.

Chairman Farook Kadodia welcomes Felix Obada to the Team of Choice.

“At only 19 years of age, Obada is a great young prospect who excelled in the PSL last season despite his club being relegated,” said Khan.

“He is mature beyond his years and possess qualities such as Speed, High Workrate and an eye for goal, which will be vital in the forth coming season” added Khan.

“I think it is important that I pay the Club back for the faith they have put in me by signing me on. I will continue to work hard for my new team and help the team to better things,” said Obada.

Obada will partner up in Maritzburg with ex team mates, James Madidilane and Norman Smith in what is shaping up to be a competitive United outfit.

Obada has represented Nigeria at the national U-17 level.

In total the Nigerian-born midfielder started in 25 matches last season and scored four goals.

His high work-rate and enthusiasm for the game definitely made him one of Thanda’s best players in the 2008/09 Premiership season.
