In what has been a major scoop, for the Team of Choice the Zambian international has signed with the team for a 2 year period
“The club has been chasing the signature of Chivuta for the last 6 weeks and is delighted to have done a deal with Super Sport United to secure the Zambians services,” Chairman Farook Kadodia told this website.
“Noah is an excellent acquisition, we obviously know him quite well from his previous time here. He is a creative, skillful playmaker who has a good eye for goal. He will add a lot of quality to the center of the park," added Kadodia.
The midfielder has only recently returned from Israel, where he was on trial with Maccabi Haifa.
But he has returned to the Team of Choice, after previously plying his trade in Maritzburg in 2004/05.
“We are very excited about Noah’s arrival,” an upbeat Afzal Khan told The Witness last night.
He will add considerable vision to our game, and our new front players like Felix Obada and Rudolf Bester can only benefit from him.”
Chivuta’s arrival means United have added 12 new members to their squad in a deceptively busy off-season.
“The fact that he is an experienced Premier League player only adds to his value, and we have been chasing him for the last six weeks,” Kahn quipped.
“He plays an excellent passing game and we are hopeful that he will bring out the best in the others.”
Elaborating on some of the other arrivals, Khan said that they had focused on strengthening the back unit first.
There are also a few players who have risen through the United ranks, while Thando Mahlangu has been recruited from the Vodacom League ranks.
“The team was entertaining last season, in that we scored a lot of goals.
“But we also conceded too many, so our first priority was to sort out the leaky defence,” Khan said.
United are just a week away from their opening league fixture against double champions SuperSport, but Khan said there was a quiet confidence within the squad.
“There has obviously been quite a few arrivals, so we have had to embed them into our system, but all our focus is on next week now.”
Turning his attention back to his own side, Khan said that they were mindful of the ultra-tight nature of fixtures for this unique domestic season.
“We obviously don’t want to put ourselves under pressure, so a good start would settle the team greatly.”
