With some exciting new players, and a good pre-season behind the team, Igesund is positively upbeat ahead of the game and can’t wait to lead his troops into action.

”Things have been very different from last season – we have really bee able to prepare well this time around. We have seven weeks behind us and the players are super fit – their fitness is at a European standard which is going to be very important for the season ahead,” Igesund told the MUFC website.

”The new players have gelled really well together and there is a great feeling of camaraderie and togetherness.

”The players are jumping out of their skins to get the season started and we are really looking forward to the game. It is fantastic for us to start the season against the defending champions. The match will provide me with a great indication of where my team is,” he added.

Igesund and his men were in Durban on Tuesday night to watch SuperSport lose to AmaZulu in the MTN8 and will have an excellent idea of what awaits them.

”We expect SuperSport will bounce back. They will not want to come to KZN to lose again, so that makes us even more on our toes. SuperSport missed a lot of chances against AmaZulu."

"I expect them to come guns blazing, but we are ready. We have had a good pre-season and the players are both mentally and physically fit and we will more than give a good account of ourselves," he told Sapa.

Igesund reveals that with the exception of the suspended Elias Ngwepe and the injured Eddie Ngalo, he has a full squad at his disposal.
