United meet the Clever Boys at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday night, and based on an excellent second half showing against SuperSport United in Maritzburg’s season opener, Igesund is of the belief that his side will come away with something from their trip to Johannesburg.
”In the second half against SuperSport we got stronger and stronger and we will be looking to carry that momentum into the Wits game.
”I have watched Wits and they are always a competitive side, and it will be tough playing away from home, but we are in a positive frame of mind and can certainly get a result,” Igesund told the official MUFC website.
There are two key factors which Igesund thinks will contribute to success on the field for United: fitness, and team spirit.
He elaborates: “The players are in great shape and can run all day – everyone is working hard to fight for a place in the starting line-up. We have a great bunch of guys here and the spirit and unity in the squad is fantastic.”

Igesund says that Senagalese defender Mor Diouf has been sent to ‘school’ to brush up on his English skills, and having shown a big improvement, could come back into contention.
Byron Hendricks and Peter Petersen both have minor knocks, but are expected to be ready for the game.
