TEAM OF CHOICE FIGHTING ALL THE WAY


A late equaliser from Fadlu Davids gave Maritzburg United a share of the spoils against Wits at the Bidvest Stadium on Wednesday night.

Wits had a 66th-minute penalty from Calvin Kadi saved by Brendan Wardle. United dcame sloe to scoring in the first half when Mor Diouf's 25-metre free kick was tipped over the cross bar by Darren Keet.

Wits scored in the 26th minute when Kadi outjumped the United defence to head home a pin-point cross from Sifiso Myeni to fire the Clever Boys in front.

Thando Mngomeni nearly made it 2-0 in the 29th minute but his clever chip sailed over the United crossbar.

After a flurry of attacks, Wits were rewarded with a penalty in the 66th minute when former Wits midfielder Noah Chivuta pulled down Mark Haskins inside his danger area and this time Volgraaf point to the spot.

But United's keeper Wardle pulled off a great save from Kadi's spot-kick to keep the KwaZulu-Natal team in the game.

United midfielder Noah Chivuta showed some great touches and had a thunderous shot go wide in the 70th minute.

As the clock ran down the Wits defence was caught napping and Davids was able to capitalise and salvage a point with a well-taken goal in the 85th minute.
