Introducing: Rudolf Bester

29 August 2009

In an effort to ensure fans of the “team of choice” know the person behind the player, Maritzburg united’s official website now brings you an exciting weekly column profiling players in the First Team Squad.

We start off this new feature by profiling a new off-season acquisition, Namibian International, Rudolf Bester.

Rudolf started playing soccer at the age of 7 in his home town of Oteyarongo, Namibia and has been capped 27 times for the Namibian senior national team together with also representing Namibia at u23 and u20 level.

The 26 year old was Captain of his former Club in Namibia, Eleven Arrows and played for his country at the African Cup of Nations in Ghana Last Year.

Brand Manager, Younus Kadodia put the Following questions through to Bester;

1) How are you adapting to life in Pietermaritzburg?

I am adapting well, most of the guys speak English or Afrikaans like back home which makes it easy for me to communicate and my team-mates have been great in making me fit in team.

How is the PSL compared to the league in Namibia?

Well it is not that much different except that it is a lot more professional here and faster, I am quickly getting used to it.

3) Have you got a Nickname?

Yeah my teammates in Namibia gave me the nickname Barnes, after Liverpool Legend John Barnes. They said I play like him.

4) Favorite African and International player?

Drogba and Kaka

5) Your Funniest Team Mate?

That would have to most certainly be Captain, Bagetta “ZUMA” Dikulu. This guy can make you laugh the whole day.
