UNITED OUTCLASSED BY REJUVANATED SUNDOWNS

5 October 2009

Maritzburg United loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday was a disappointing result especially after the United were leading Sundowns 1 -0 at half time.

However Sundowns fired up second half return totally outclassed the “Team of Choice” hence the star studded Tshwane side turning out convincing 5-1 victors on the night.

“It would have been ignorant to think that beating Sundowns was going to be easy, especially for the team that has half of their squad representing national soccer teams, however being 1-0 to the good at halftime, most of the partisan home crowd believed that another big scalp was for the taking.

Sundowns on the other hand came out all guns blazing and we had no answer to that” said Brand Manager Younus Kadodia.

“In the last two home games we have let our wonderful supporters down and owe it to them to start producing results at in Pietermaritzburg,” added Kadodia.

Friday’s loss came with a mounting task to regroup and get ready for the next challenge - away to Moroka Swallows in two weeks time.

The technical team will now have to achieve the above given the 14 days break that we have in between.

“It is inevitable to realize that the heat in the PSL is reaching a boiling point with all the teams wanting to finish the first round games on high note.

"The Sundowns loss was yet another lesson learnt in terms of the weak points to work on and strong points to dwell positively upon and that on its own means that war will continue with on a high note when we host Cosmos, Mpumalanga Black Aces and Free State Stars in three consecutive home games on the 21, 28 and 31 October 2009 at the Woodburn Stadium.

"However the road will start in Dobsinvile in our clash with Moroka Swallows on the 18 October 2009.” Said Media and Supporter Liaison officer Zazi Nxele
