The U15’s accounted for Eleven Express 2-1 in a nailbiting game coming from behind, while the U17’s took the Cup from challengers Alfa Blazers 2-0 scoring a goal apiece in each half.
"It was a hard season for both teams but they did exceptional well to also win the League Titles," said Development Coordinator, Simo Msomi.
"Congratulations to Coaches, Themba Dlamini U17) and Dumisani Hlope U15 for the excellent work they had done to bring in the much deserved silverware," added Msomi.
Head of Youth Development, Katz Naidoo was full of praise for both the teams on a great season and their accomplishments.
"
When you consider that the U17 team were unbeaten for both league and cup, it is indeed a special achievement," Said Katz.
The same has to be said of the U15 team whom only lost one in 32 official games.
When asked about the success he attributes it to the methodology and the training and competitive philosophies applied in the overall development programme.
"We ensure that recruits are in the right age group as to allow players to spend at least a minimum of two years in the group and also regular testing to monitor progress," said Katz.
Both squads have graduated from the U13 and U15 age groups respectively and they will still be in the same age groups for the 2010 season.
Coaches, Dlamini and Hlope have put a lot a effort and must be congratulated for the success they achieved.
"Incidentially United’s Development Teams from the U13’s to the U17’s have been regular recipients of silverware campaigning in the Maritzburg and District Football Association since 2006," said Katz.
