UNITED FIGHT BACK TO GET A GOOD POINT
Maritzburg United have earned a 1-1 draw from their match against Orlando Pirates at Coca Cola Park on Wednesday night.
Maritzburg United fighting spirit prevailed last night when they came from a goal down from Orlando Pirates, forcing the game into a draw and earning the team a good point away, the 54 minutes equalizer by Mor Diouf cancelled Lucky Lekgwati 45th minutes goal.
Both teams had good scoring chances but the goalkeepers of both team stood the ground, at the end of the day it was United Tashreique Goldman who came out top and got himself a man of the match award.
Gordon Igusend seemed pleased by the draw and labeled the outcome as a confidence booster for the two tough outings ahead which are Santos on Saturday and Supersport United next Wednesday however the coach faces a mounting task to motivate his team which will be without Elias Ngwepe who has collected his third yellow card and captain Dikulu Baketa who earned himself a red card in the dying minutes of the game following an off the ball incident, both players have been consistent throughout the season and have been United pillars at the back.
With Peter Peterson also stretched out of the field in the 88th minute, Gordon will have to rely on the likes of Bryon Hendricks, Mor Diouf, James Madidlane and Bheka Phakathi to marshal the defence.
The Santos game on Saturday at 20h00 in Coetzenburg game will test the depth on the Team of Choice and Gordon and his technical team has what it takes to match Santos high flying performance.
