Team of Choice to host Amakhosi at Durban’s Moses Mabhida
In what can be described as a Massive Coup for soccer lover’s in the Province, Maritzburg United FC have taken a decision to move their fixture against Kaizer Chiefs, on Sunday 6th December 2009 to Durban’s new 2010 World Cup Venue, the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
After being approached by the Ethekwini Municipality, and with the newly revamped Harry Gwala Stadium not yet ready, Management have decided to move the game to the Moses Mabhida Stadium to accommodate the huge turnout expected for this Fixture.
“Currently the capacity at the Woodburn Stadium in Pietermaritzburg is only 10 000, which is nowhere enough for a game of this magnitude” Said CEO Afzal Khan. “The Moses Mabhida stadium will allow us to cater for 40 000 people and allow the people of Kwazulu Natal the opportunity of watching 2 consecutive week-ends of quality football action at Durban’s 2010 venue” Added Khan.
This will most certainly be an exciting game as the Amakhosi will look to avenge the 1-0 loss suffered earlier this season when United outplayed them to take all 3 points at the Orlando Stadium. This fixture will also pit Ernst Middendorp against Kazier Chiefs for the first time since his departure from Chiefs in 2007.
Tickets for this fixture will go on sale this Friday, 27 November 2009 at Computicket outlets and Shoprite Checker’s outlets nationally at R30.00
