UNITED LOOK TO ENTER FESTIVE BREAK ON A HIGH 17 December 2009 The “Team of Choice” Maritzburg United Football Club, will be looking to bounce back from the midweek defeat away to Mamelodi Sundowns and close 2009 with a Victory against the “Dube Birds”, Moroka Swallows when the two teams meet in a Mid-Table battle this Sunday, 20 th December 2009 at the Woodburn Stadium. Kick off is at 15h30.

With new recruits, Shuaib Walters, Mario Booysen and Kurt Lentjies having settled in well at the “Team of Choice”, Head Coach Ernst Middendorp has a full complement of fit and hungry players to select his starting lineup from. If United can replicate the form showed in last week-ends victory against Ajax Cape Town, it could be a torrid afternoon for Swallows and keeper, Greg Etafia.

Rainer Zobel’s expensively assembled side will also be looking to redeem themselves after a some what indifferent run of recent results. The “Dube Birds” will be hoping that their Captian, Lefa Tsutsupula is back at his best and strikers Siyabonga Nomvete and Collins Mbesuma will soon start finding the target.

Importantly for United however, is a victory that will further assist in the quest for a top 8 placing come the end of the season, with the players all aware how important this victory is for both the team and the city of Pietermaritzburg.

“While this will no doubt be another tough encounter, the team is starting to adapt to the coaches methods and this can be seen through the recent performances against Chiefs, Celtic and Ajax. With this being the last game before the Festive break, the team is keen to go into the recess with a win under the belt” said Brand Manager Younus Kadodia.

The Stadium will open to the public from 13h00 on Sunday and Fans are encouraged to come out and get behind the “Team of Choice”.
