Middendorp is seen passing on advise to United’s Academy Players prior to a training session. |
“The investment in development must yield returns for the 1st. team” said Middendorp in an interview recently.
Some of strategies are to ensure that an education and welfare plan is established and supervision, coaching, medical and administration supporting components are put in place.
Head of Development, Katz Naidoo, is pleased that Coach Middendorp has thrown his weight behind the Programme and his presence at development sessions has indicated his interest and commitment to the development of players for the first team.
The programme is on target with its vision in the pre-formation, formation and apprenticeship phases with the core of the training programme revolving around developing “Soccer Intelligence” and learning by playing.
“The triad being the corner stone of United’s programme, Tactics and corrections, Individual technique training and Soccer and school” said Katz.
“However youth players have to be absolutely determined to succeed in pro soccer. Their every day objective must be to transform their individual weaknesses into strengths.
“A recruitment programme is being planned that will include 1st. team technical staff and development coaches for youth players in the region, but it is important for future players to cultivate their enthusiasm for training, matches and the sport as a whole” mentioned Katz.
