Matle, who arrives from Kaizer Chiefs, will be challenging for the right back position.
Matle is a highly regarded talent, but struggled for game time at AmaKhosi due to the outstanding form of captain Jimmy Tau, who was the Gauteng club's Player of the Season last season.
The 23-year-old Boksburg-born player is comfortable on the ball going forward and an accomplished defender, who will be determined to make his mark on the PSL with Maritzburg United.
He capped at Under-20 and Under-23 level for South Africa and is line with the club’s policy of signing players from this age category.
Davids joins the team from NFD side FC Cape Town, where he has been a regular for several years.
The 25-year-old is highly rated in Cape soccer circles and went on trial to a Turkish club earlier this year.
Davids is a nuggety, skilful player, with a superb left foot. He can play both at left back and on the left wing, and is also handy from set-pieces.
“We are very pleased to welcome Wayne and Morne to the club. Both are young, hungry players with a point to prove in the PSL and we believe that them signing for the Team of Choice will be a win-win situation for both club and player,” said Younus Kadodia, Maritzburg United’s Commercial Manager,
“Management has been hard at work to bring in the players that the technical team feel we need to add to the squad, and we are very pleased with the signings we have made so far during the off-season.
“The squad has a solid, balanced feel to it with good strength in depth in all positions. With the new players we have brought in we are confident of a successful season ahead.”
