The World Cup venue was of course where the KZN side last season ended Ajax’s title hopes with a 2-1 victory on the final day of the Absa Premiership.
Ajax go into the game having lost 2-0 to Platinum Stars, while the Team of Choice came from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Wits.
United will be without Kurt Lentjies and Shu-aib Walters – both injured for this game.
DIYO SIBISI ON THE AJAX GAME
I think it’s going to be a tough game because Ajax are coming from a loss to Platinum Stars and they are a very difficult side to beat at home.
On our side we are not prepared to give away our weekend start. We fought back well yesterday and we are looking forward to improving on that.
IAN PALMER ON THE DRAW AGAINST WITS
"We knew that their strength was wing play and obviously set plays. We conceded two goals on set plays and we worked sort of two or three days on exactly that, especially on the defending aspect.
It's good character that they showed, we came back after 20 minutes, but that's football. If you don't defend well then you concede goals.
PAST RECORD
In head to head records, the teams have faced each other thirty times. Ajax have a better home record than Maritzburg, having won twelve matches, drawn twice and lost once.
Maritzburg have also played fifteen matches at home, winning six, drawing six and losing three.
