The Team of Choice are determined to end a two game loising streak in the league and recapture the excellent form they showed earlier in the season.
They go into this mach having lost 2-1 to Santos in Cape Town, following a last minute own goal.
Maritzburg will have to find more impetus in attack after failing to pose much of a goal threat in their two recent outings in Cape Town, and during the defeat to SuperSport United prior to that.
Captain Shu-aib Walters is determined to lead his troops back up the table with victory over Chiefs.
“We showed at the start of the season and to ourselves that we have the ability and man-power to beat any team on the day,” said the United No 1. “We have dropped down the table a bit after our good start to the season, but with a couple of results we will quickly move back up.
“We know against Chiefs it will be tough, but we will fight for a victory to end our two game losing run in the league.”
Meanwhile coach Ian Palmer told Soccer Laduma: “We have to be positive going into the Chiefs game, we have to give it our all. I think we’re feeling confident, we had two disappointing results against Santos but everyone is looking to the game and we want to get a positive result. As an underdog for you to come out with something and surprise people it is always a possibility.”
In the 10 matches played between the two clubs, Maritzburg have won three and Chiefs five.
Team manager Quintin Jettoo confirms that the squad has a clean bill of health.
"
All is good in camp, the mood very good. Our practise session at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium went very well yesterday evening.
"Prince Olomu is is with the team and will be available for selection, however that will be the Coaches decision. Tickets sale are going steadily and we expecting a decent crowd.
"We are hoping to get our campaign in Port Elizabeth off to a winning start."
The match kicks off at 19H30 and will be shown live on SS4.
