Maritzburg started the campaign with a seven-match unbeaten run, but have since slipped down to 11th place on the table.
The Team of Choice have picked up just one point in their last five outings, scoring just one goal in the process.
However, goalkeeper Shu-Aib Walters believes it’s not just a matter of strikers failing to find the back of the net, but believes the whole team needs to improve so they can return to winning ways.
“We have the manpower to score the goals that we need to start collecting points again. We can’t only rely on strikers to score goals. Also, we’ve been creating less good chances recently. And obviously that makes it more difficult to score,” Walters told SuperSport.com.
Walters maintains the team will be in a positive frame of mind on Sunday.
“The experienced players know how to recover quickly from a setback and look forward to the next challenge but we’re also working with some youngsters who take a while to recover. However, we’re going back to the drawing board and we’ll all make sure that everybody is ready.
“It’s going to be like a cup final for us. AmaZulu had their slump at the beginning of the season and we’re having ours now, but we know that pound-for-pound we can match them and we see this as the perfect opportunity to get back on track,” said Walters.
Usuthu cme back from a last minute home loss against Black Leopards to grab three valuable points away from home courtesy of a 1-0 win over Platinum Stars.
