The Team of Choice parted ways with Palmer last week after it became apparent that the coaching courses he was to attend would clash with his duties as head coach.
Davids says the news was disappointing, but adds that’s its important the squad move on quickly.
“It came as a shock, as the players had enjoyed a good relationship with Ian and we had done fairly well in the first half of the season.
“But we knew he wanted to pursue his studies top get his Pro Licence and we understand that he wanted to further his career – this is the nature of football – coaches come and go.”
The new coach is to be announced shortly – in the meantime its been training as usual.
“Ronnie Kanalelo has been taking the sessions. We have a lot of young players in the side, so for a senior player like myself its been important to make sure they stay focussed and keep our goal in mind – to secure a top eight finish, we’re still on target to do that.”
