Komphela: Every point crucial
18 November 2014

Maritzburg United coach Steve Komphela wants to ensure his team do not rest on their laurels as season moves into the busy pre-Christmas period.

Maritzburg return to action this weekend after a two week international break when they meet Ajax Cape Town in the Mother City.

United are currently sitting in fourth position on the standings, following an excellent run of form in the opening 10 matches of the season.

The Team of Choice also have the third best defensive record in the league, while are in fourth place on the ‘Goals For’ table.

Komphela is of course pleased with the start his side have made. While attribute this to hard work, he also cautions that the team cannot afford to relax, pointing out that every point earned is like gold:

"The last time I checked we were amongst the better scoring teams and defensively we were also amongst the better performing ones too.

"Now when you look at those statistics, they inspire you. They show the amount of work you have put in and we'll go back now and keep working.

"It's a long season. We have to go on working hard and fighting for every point if we want to achieve our targets for the season."
