MARITZBURG AIM TO DO WELL IN THE CUP

Maritzburg United left winger Mxolisi Kunene says that the current FIFA break gives them enough time to rectify the mistakes that they made during the first few matches of the Absa Premiership season.

The Team of Choice headed into the two-week recess in high spirits following back-to-back home victories against Chippa United and Baroka FC.

“This long FIFA break is going to help us a lot to correct the mistakes we made in the past few games," Kunene said.

"As players, our mindset is very good as we have just won our last two matches. This shows that we are on the right track."

Coach Eric Tinkler and his charges will shift focus to the Telkom Knockout in the next game, with the competition draw scheduled for Wednesday.

The first round of the tournament will be played on 19-20 October. Last season the #BlueArmy were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the tournament.

“We are focusing on the Telkom Knockout that is coming soon and we feel we are ready for the challenge," Kunene added. "The cup competition is very important to us. We can’t drop our tempo just because it’s a cup match and we feel it is very important for us to do well in the cup as well.”
