We are faced with a basket of challenges that face us in the forthcoming season.

It is our 7 th year in professional football and the club has survived without a title sponsor. It is without doubt that the business community helps to strengthen the brand. It is no hidden secret the past season has been taking its toll financially.

We continue our appeal to Corporate South Africa and local business to invest behind the Team, as the Club always offers return on investment. Maritzburg is positioned correctly in the Provincial Capital and with the imminent Metro status being awarded to the City, it is imperative that the PSL flag always flies in the City. Various avenues such as our Development structures and branding opportunities exist.

I would appeal to Football agents and Managers during this transfer window period to act responsibly in protecting both clubs and players.

Within the next week the Club will announce its official squad for the season, as well as the technical and management personnel.

We look forward to our supporters to mobilize in the region and rally behind the team in the build up to opening game on the 07 August 2009 against 2008/2009 League Champs Supersports United at the Woodburn Stadium.

Maritzburg United confirms the resignation of its Assistant Coach, Clinton Larsen and the announcement of his replacement will be made soon.

The United Management wishes Larsen all the best at his new club, Bloemfontein Celtic.

UNITED WELCOMES “HUMMEL” BACK INTO ITS FOLD

After a year of absence “Hummel” reunites with MaritzburgUnited and Chairman, Mr. Farook Kadodia welcomes the association that spans 6 years. I am excited that this association has been renewed and look forward to “Hummel” as our technical sposonors.
