IN TOUCH WITH: TEBOGO TLOLANE

28 April 2020

In a short space of time, Tebogo Tlolane made a sizable impact on the field with Maritzburg United as well as up in the stands with the Team of Choice supporters.

The 25-year-old arrived in Pietermaritzburg in January after the club signed him on loan from Orlando Pirates. Before that, he had been a shining light at Chippa United, having started his career with Jomo Cosmos.

The skilful left-sided player has featured in only seven league and cup games for United. Yet with the positive contributions he's made and the way he's slotted seamlessly into the side, it feels as if Tebogo has been around much longer.

Now with Premier Soccer League (PSL) on hold with the lockdown regulations, Tlolane is keeping as productive as he can. He’s also had some time to reflect on his stay with Maritzburg United. This is what he had to say:

MUFC: Where are you spending the lockdown?
Tebogo Tlolane (TT): I’m currently at home in Joburg.

MUFC: How are you keeping busy?
TT: Training, watching Netflix, watching TV and some PlayStation.

MUFC: How often do you speak to your teammates/ coach?
TT: We keep in touch almost every day, just to check up how each other are doing. We also have some good calls together.

MUFC: Who is the person you are most in contact with during the lockdown and how do you guys chat?
TT: I am most in contact with Keagan Buchanan, Thabiso Kutumela and Miguel Timm. We communicate via Whatsapp and Instagram.

MUFC: Have you ever imagined life without football? And what would you have done for a career had you not been a footballer?
TT: Obviously I have not imagined life without football, but if there was a career, I would have taken Accounting, I really liked a lot to be an accountant. Second one would have been Logistics.

MUFC: Are there any games/ movies/ series/ books that you can recommend?
TT: I spend most of my time watching movies and series. I love Money Heist and the How to Get Away With Murder series. Movies are Bird Box, Fist Fight and Secret Obsession.

MUFC: Looking at the season so far, which was the most impressive result/ game for the team?
TT: The Back-to-back away games against Bidvest Wits and Kaizer Chiefs, those two gave us a huge boost and much confidence.

MUFC:In which match do you feel you played your best?
TT: The one I scored in against Stellenbosch at home, and the away game against Kaizer Chiefs.

MUFC: What was the best goal scored by MUFC this season?
TT: I give Judas Moseamedi the best goal against Bloemfontein Celtic, as well as Thabiso Kutumela against Chippa.
