CLAASEN ON STELLIES CLASH: WE'RE NOT GOING FOR A DRAW
26 April 2021

Daylon Claasen says Maritzburg United are determined to come back with nothing less than maximum points from their trip to play Stellenbosch FC at the Danie Craven Stadium on Tuesday afternoon (3pm kick off).

The Team of Choice head into Tuesday's game on the back of a 1-1 draw with Baroka FC at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday.

There was a certain amount of disappointment at not claiming the victory, but with a quick turnaround time between matches, United have the chance to put that right.

"The team is ready for Stellenbosch. We need to go out there, although it is an away game, we are still going to play to get all three points, we are not going there just for a draw," Team of Choice midfielder Daylon Claasen stated.

"I believe the team is ready that we can go out there and get the points. Not to sound overconfident, we will take things one game at a time."

Prior to drawing with Baroka, Maritzburg lost 2-0 to Orlando Pirates, but before that, we were on a five-match unbeaten run.

"We must stick together as a team. We were on a five-match unbeaten run. We just nee to retain belief in ourselves," Claasen added.

"Stellenbosch is a very good team. It's not going to be easy game going out there. They are also in a situation where one loss or one draw can take them down. So they are also out to get points.

"It's going to be a battle, nowadays in the league there is no easy game, we'll be going out there to fight."

Steve Barker’s Stellenbosch side are 12th on the standings with 25 points, one place and four points above United.

The first round league encounter between the two sides at the Harry Gwala Stadium ended 2-2 after the Cape side twice came from behind.
