GRAHAM: WE MUST WIN THREE 'CUP FINALS'

17 May 2021

Maritzburg United midfield strongman Travis Graham has rallied the troops, saying that the Team of Choice must target maximum points from their last three matches of the season, starting with Wednesday evening's DStv Premiership clash with Cape Town City.

United head into the match against the Citizens (5pm kick off at the Cape Town Stadium) in 12th position, but only three points above the relegation zone.

Graham, who arrived as a mid-season signing, admits it has been a challenging campaign, but draws inspiration from the improvement in results over the past few months.

"It hasn't been a pretty season for Maritzburg - ever since I came to the team it was pressure from the start," he told MUFC media.

"But the team has grown so much, if you look back to where we were, rock bottom of the log.

"The team has improved so much, we've got some vital points to be where we are today.

"But the season is not over yet, we need to finish the job and make sure that we are safe. We've got three cup finals and need to get maximum points from all of those games."

Maritzburg left-back Dan Morgan concedes City will be a tough nut to crack, but wants his team to focus on their own abilities and strengths.

It's a super important game. The good thing for us is it's in our hands, we don't have to rely on anyone else," said the New Zealander.

"They are a very good team, obviously they like to play. They have a lot of athletic ability like we do as well.

"There's only so much you can concentrate on them, it's about concentrating on us and doing what we do best and getting the three points and moving on from there."
