THE PASSING AWAY OF SENZO MEYIWA
27 October 2014

We learnt with shock and sadness of the passing away of Senzo Meyiwa in the hands of heartless criminals who shot him dead on Sunday night in Johannesburg.

As Maritzburg United Football Club, we join the entire football fraternity in the country, the continent and internationally in mourning our beloved son.

Senzo’s life was taken at the time he’s football career was at almost its pinnacle, being the captain of both Orlando Pirates and Bafana bafana.

As one big football family, the loss at Orlando Pirates, is a loss for all of us. We are confident that the law will take its cause so that the criminals are quickly brought to court to face the law and face the consequences of their actions.

We wish Orlando Pirates and especially the Meyiwa Family comfort during this painful time, and for them to know that the legacy left by their son, will live to inspire a lot of young men who looked up to Senzo for inspiration.

May his soul rest in peace.
