The Absa Premiership encounter against Matsatsantsa takes place at the Lucas Moripe Stadium with kick off scheduled for 19H30.
SuperSport will be in a confident frame of mind after beating log-leaders Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 on the weekend, leaving them third on the standings.
The Team of Choice meanwhile approach Wednesday’s game in Gauteng on the back of a morale-boosting, dramatic late 2-1 win over Golden Arrows at the Harry Gwala Stadium last Friday.
With a very busy fixture schedule ahead, coach Eric was especially pleased with the Arrows victory, and hopes this will be the tonic his men to forge ahead into 2020 in a positive mindset.
“We spoke about wanting to go into the new year with one foot forward instead of one foot back, and it’s a tough month January,” he said.
“So we wanted to make sure we collected the points at home (against Arrows), they’re extremely important, extremely vital.”
The Team of Choice’s fighting spirit has been a key factor over the past year, and the coach wants to see more of the same in Atteridgeville on Wednesday.
“SuperSport are a good team, they’re having a good season,” he stated. “It’s going to be a tough match, away from home. We need to go there and play with a lot of confidence, a lot of determination.
“We’ve got to stick to what we know and what we are good at. Our work ethic has been very good, so you want to see that consistency,” he concluded.
Maritzburg lost 1-0 the last time they played SuperSport in Pretoria. Since then they have played them twice at the Harry Gwala Stadium, winning 3-1 in May and losing 2-0 in November last year.
United will welcome back Mxolisi Kunene from suspension, while Phumlani Ntshangase and Siyanda Xulu both remain sidelined through injury.
